Juan Ramos, University of Southern Indiana (IN)

Majors: International Studies & Spanish Studies
Graduation Date: June 10, 2016
Not Counted Because: Transferred

I transferred to the University of Southern Indiana in the fall of 2013 due to financial barriers and to pursue my dream of playing for a collegiate soccer team.  After transferring, I was able to join the University of Southern Indiana TRIO Student Support Services program which provided one-on-one personal, academic, and financial support. In the fall of 2016 I was awarded a scholarship in the TRIO program.  My dream came true when I was selected to play for the USI soccer team beginning in the spring of 2014 as a midfielder.

I will graduate with a double major in international studies and Spanish studies and will begin employment at Jasper Engines as an interpreter and supervisor for their transmission unit. This summer I will also travel to El Salvador to visit my immediate family and to celebrate earning my bachelor’s degree. I am the first person in my family to graduate from college. In addition to these endeavors, I will also work on attaining my pilot license.
